Sew and Sew and Sew some more

The past two weeks have flown by and looking back I have gotten a lot done, even a few finishes. I got three of the four Halloween quilts quilted, two finished. While quilting the third one, I ran out of bobbin thread just before starting the last row. After a few minutes of debating if anyone would notice a change from charcoal to black, I ordered some more charcoal. It should be here tomorrow, then I can finish up my halloween quilts, get them posted to the shop and settle into Christmas sewing.

I started the Trentham Lollipop quilt, I am trying to get the blocks put up and randomize the colors/prints. No touching, not near each other, or clustered. This color way is a bit more sedate than the last one, although I used white as a background in that quilt, and pewter in this one. My design wall is about two feet too small in both directions, so I may resort to the floor in another room. I also cut the triangles to make the companion quilt from the left overs. I may use a brighter contrasting triangle in the companion one. Krista Moser uses a Seafoam green and Heather purple for her versions. There aren’t many scraps left from this pattern, a good thing for me.

I ordered more fabric from the Quilt Show, and it is here already. They ship out of a city near me, so it gets here quickly, unlike the bobbin thread. I got another Robin Ruth Designs kit, it was half price because it didn’t have the ruler included. 70.00 for nine+ yards of fabric, is pretty hard to pass up. So now I have three Robin Ruth Compass quilts to make, with the two ruler sets I have. Just not enough hours in the day.

I have gotten a few more sections on the Be colorful/ Enchanting stars quilt top. I had to take them down from my design wall to put up the lollipops. They are getting easier to construct, I think I have the colors memorized, there are 24, plus white, and tree black prints. Making a color reference card really helps, *note to self*.

I had been keeping up with the Tech Know Quilting 3D project, but last week I got stumped with the second lesson and haven’t gone back to it, maybe later today. Lesson ten is posted, another swirly ball.

I have no progress to show on my cross stitching. However I unearthed the final 32 blocks for the Message in a Bottle quilt final border. I set up my cross stitching area with all the appliqué things. I started this BOM in August of 2022, it is time to get it finished.

Be Kind.

  1. I’ve known Krista for years and she started as a 14 year old long arm machine apprentice at a quilt shop. She is mega talented and a savant of quilting. She’s quilted several of my quilts. I used to live in the Pacific NW and got to know her through a mutual friend. I love Krista’s version of the quilt and I love yours – wonderful fabrics!
