I have been trying to finish my Coxcomb Medallion quilt to participate in the fourth quarter 2015 Finish A long at On the Windy Side. This has been an ongoing BOM for me, I just want to be done with it already. In October I did two months work in one, and then I ordered the last pattern from Sue Garman at Come Quilt directly, so that I could finish before January 7th. I had enough fabric, and scraps from the past 11 months. The other day I was reading through the rules of the QAL, and it clearly states that the quilt must be finished, and bound, to be considered for the contest. Sadly there is no way that is going to happen for this quilt. The top will be done, but the quilting…nope.
Here is a picture of it from earlier today.
I have since added another pink floater strip and a round of three inch assorted blocks. I need to add two more floaters, a border, the flying geese and then a couple more borders to finish this top. Oh yeah, and about 12 more blue dots to the swag border. This top will be finished by the 7th.
I was looking at my list of quilts made (lifetime) and it seems I have made 28 this year, 16 are still tops though. So 12 finished, not bad. I feel good about my accomplishments this year, and I’m looking forward to a productive 2016.
Been working on Allietare too, finished the 5th clue Saturday. I also made two more farmers wife blocks, Eva and Fanny. These are a week early, because we are supposed to take this week off.
Linking up with Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict today. Happy New Year!
Wow, you have really done well. I am amazed at how much you are planning to get done by the 7th…good luck. Your quilt is lovely.
Thanks, its relatively easy sewing, just straight lines. I have three more floater strips (½ inch finished) and one border to do. The top is eighty-five inches square now, so those seams take a while.
